I still use CDs. Had to buy a tape deck adaptor for the car if I wanted to play music off my phone.

I used a tape deck adapter in my W8 back in the day... great sound quality. plus you can get them for 99 cents on eBay!

Hah, I wish I had gotten it that cheap. Still, sixteen bucks, used it on a 1300 kilometre road trip, then gave it to my girlfriend to use in her car. Definitely worth the price, though, since I’m pretty sure it’s magic.

I still rock an iPod Classic in my van, plugged into the stereo. Those were such fantastic devices, another wonderful product Apple decided we didn’t need any more. I used to go on long road trips and try to figure out which CDs to take. Once I got my first iPod, I just took all of them.

I do too, because the sound quality blows music files out of the water. If you play MP3s and others on a proper stereo, or even in good headphones, the difference is obvious.

It’s Apple. They will find a way and will make it work. Their stuff tends to be decent quality but hideously overpriced. The latter because they can . People will buy it regardless.

I can’t believe (I totally can because people are crybabies) how everyone is going nuts over the omission of the headphone jack. An adapter and or bluetooth earpods will most likely be included with the new phones.

“but what if I want to charge my phone and use the phone jack?” guarantee there will be an adapter for that as well.

“but hard wired headphones have the best sound quality!” everything you’re listening to on your phone is compressed, so don’t worry..your beats headphones look like clownshit anyway.

have you seen how much ipod classics are now?? I’ve seen them in the $300-400 range on Amazon, simply because you can’t get an Apple product with that kind of physical storage anymore.

I love my iPod Classic, still going strong - in the car, on vacations, around the house. Fantastic device.

I also don’t get the people freaking out over losing the 3.5 jack. The 7 will come with the Lightning to 3.5 dongle AND the cost of decent bluetooth earbuds/headphones is pretty low. Plus it will come with appropriate earphones, PLUS someone’s preferred third party earbuds/earphones will come out with the lightning connector.

So, the dongle is just one more thing for someone to lose or damage? Be more responsible with your things.

So, the new bluetooth earbuds/headphones are just one more thing someone has to charge? So what?

People are pissed because Apple tried to reinvent the wheel when it wasn’t a technology that needed to go away. Android phones are constantly coming up with new and interesting tech, like NFC chips that can be used at any cash register, wireless charging, OLED screens, enough battery juice to last a number of days for the average user, and so much processing power they could put a desktop to shame.

What does Apple do? Remove the 3.5 port and pimped out the camera. The iPhone 7 is not progress, certainly not something Steve Jobs’ Apple would have done. And I say this as someone who’s still an Apple fangirl at heart. The removal of the 3.5 itself isn’t inherently bad, it’s just that Apple hasn’t brought a single innovation to the table since Job’s death...And any true innovation they’ve come up with in recent years have already been available for an entire generation in flagship Androids. Now they want to hail a headphone jack removal as something revolutionary (when a Motorola phone already beat them to that punch too).

Like I said, I love Apple, but gosh is removing that jack not something to boast about. And I’m a huge supporter of bluetooth too. Apple used to be my life, but now it’s just my hobby. I missed the batshit ideas Jobs had, but now we’re stuck with playing it safe.

I was very pleasantly surprised when my classic worked with my 2016 pickup. There are still some weird glitches now and then, but it still works.

My dad got a 160GB Classic just before they stopped making them. I should’ve got one too, they’re still an excellent idea, it’s disappointing that they moved away from them.
